Just wondering if anybody has ever done any cutting with or handled one of these swords? For those that have never heard of Furuyama, here's a link to J-armory web page. Any comments or info would be appreciated. j-armory.com/FYS.html

These have been discussed briefly before...can't recall whether we decided good or bad...but some of their ad/descriptions make me a bit uneasy. Perhaps more research into sword import laws of Japan is necessary, but in the meantime I wonder... Ultimately, they put me very much in mind of Last Legend. Which isn't a bad thing, mind. Some of their names make me laugh. Such things as Kuro Kage, even "Kurobara," and especially their "musashi 'ni-ring'" are quite amusing to me... Their tsuka look like they come out all over the place. Also, this should probably be in the Japanese Swords section.

I thought the same thing in regards to the tsuka. Also, I'm pretty sure these are made in China which is the reason I posted here instead of Japanese swords. They're pretty careful not to say the blades are made in Japan, only that they are sold in Japan which also makes me a little weary. Thanks for the input, guess I'll research these a little more before dropping the $$.

"The first thing you will notice about the Furuyama swords is that they look like they might have come directly from the pages of a Japanese history book." lol wow... I accidently hit the "current disscussions" button and this topic showed up at the top. my bad.

I do that sometimes, too. But that this thread would be the first...I thought it would rearrange by date, at least...surely this is neither the oldest nor youngest thread in this subforum... I wonder how it works? With exception to a the first few...it's apparently alphabetical. But why the first six or so threads listed follow no such order is a mystery to me. On another note, since it's back, has anybody bought one of these?
