Cutting with no mind

Was talking with one of my brother's about golf and he recited something Ben Hogan said about guys that do prep swings at the tee while on a course with some other people, "if your doing practice swings on the course, you should be on the damn range" and he walks to the tee, puts the golf ball on and without a moment's delay swung immediately right after without waiting and thinking, practice swing, or aiming where to land... he just did it without mind intent and it was one of the most purest swing's and shot that these guy's saw.
After training in hand to hand for so long, I got to a point where everything is instinctual and second nature without even thinking about technique or form. I can imagine that's how iaido practitioners or kendoka's feel after practicing for so long when performing a 2 man sets or a kata. I even quoted musashi on the same thing in my signature. Doing practice cutting almost every other day now, I'm starting to see where that applies in tameshirigi with no mind acitivity while still keeping in mind with safety and the surrounding.
Anyways, have others here got to that point yet where you don't require yourself with prep/practice swings, being aware of aim and edge alignment, footing, speed, follow up strike, etc... ? I'm far from accomplishing this but would love to hear insight on this or related experience.
I know this comes with years of experience and can be only accomplished this way and it wouldn't be a big deal to those that have gotten to this stage in swordsmanship but I see it as a big stepping stone and would like to read on what others have to say about it.
