Take a big guess what my mom just walked in the door with?
I my god I absolutely love this thing!!!! It feels like a kukri sword!! I love it! It looks so much better in person!!! Damn I am in love with it!!
I was surprised with the choice she picked! I thought she would get me a Katana or something!
The only draw back is it is un sharpened, but it is not a huge deal as I have brand new files awaiting to be used anyway.
Expect a review as soon as I can borrow my sisters camera!!
On a side note, it is not clumsy in anyway. It is tip heavy, but not unbearably. I checked out one guys review, he was talking like it was a weapon only the hulk could wield, but I myself find it rather light. It is surprisingly very well balanced, despite being tip heavy and 4lbs 6oz.

Can you give us a link to somewhere that sells it (and therefore has pics)?
I, for one, have never heard of this particular peice.
Glad to hear that you finally got a real blade though!

I've never heard of it which surprises me, this must be an old windlass model? Khukuri are supposed to be tip heavy that is where the cutting power comes from and why it can out cut axes and other larger cutting implements. How long and wide is the blade? It's only thirty inches, that isn't really that sword like I thought you meant it was like 3 ft in length or something. Nice job though, way to go mum! Wish my mum would buy me a khukuri I'll take this one; us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-7333098713883_2019_507756

It is roughly 4 inches wide at it's widest. It isn't too long, but I would classify it as a sword. And yea, Randomnobody has the link to the exact one. I tried it out on a piece of pine today, man it made a mean cut. I basically just used the weight of the blade and it was enough to get half way through... Against the grain! I cannot wait to have it a little bit sharper.
I am surprised she got me a windlass though, I would have expected a wallhanger. But she asked her friend for something I can use when I go hunting, and he pointed her towards this for some reason... But I am happy with it. I wouldn't want anything else for hunting, as this as an awesome tool, and I love the length.

Hmm... Something like that might be a wee bit much for hunting...unless you're hunting bears.

Well, I usually go for long hunting/camping trips. The kukri would be mainly a substitute for an axe. Not to mention I reckon they would take limps off of big game quite easily. Man I am looking forward to it, and possibly trying out my Bow as well.
