As yet another person jumping on the bandwagon, I recently forked over some money to Garrett for a nice Chinese jian. It's going to be a Han Jian variant, and should be in my hands in about 2 months from now. I can't wait to get my hands on it, not just because I've always wanted a real jian to practice with, and the Han Jian was a design that I have been drooling over for almost two years straight, but because I've liked all the things I've seen and heard about Jin Shi so far, and am hoping to be yet another satisfied customer to add to the list. When I finally get the sword, I'll be sure to do a review on it, and maybe even have some videos to go along with it. I'm sure it could only help Garrett and his company's reputation, as well as show yet another example of how good the swords are. I hope these two months fly by.

When Garrett was showing me his wares, I was hoping that there would be a han style there, there wasn't but the quality of all the swords were amazing. I think you will be very happy with your jian when you get it.

If you're as happy with yours (when it arrives) as I am with mine, you'll be tickled pink. I look forward to photos, etc.

Well, it's FINALLY HERE!! OK, so it's not "here" yet, but it's completed at least. I'm guessing it should be in my hands in another 3 weeks or so. Here's what it looks like, it's the second one from the top: Can't wait till it's here.

Makadona, yours is a BEAUTIFUL sword. I'm thinking that might be the design I pick the next time I buy a jian from Garrett. And there WILL be a next time.

Swordsage, I love the han style jian, they have such a unique look to them. Hopefully when it comes I'll do my first ever cutting video.

Crap! I really need to stash away the money to get a sword from Garret. Those looks absolutely gorgeous! As I sit here drooling on myself over those pics, I'm wondering what he could do for me in a Song dynasty style Jian and Zanmadao (horse chopping saber). Time to get those emails flying, LOL.

the three bottom ones are my favourite, especially the very bottom one, that is rather a beautiful looking jian.

Yeah, the Tang Jian (bottom one) is a sweet looking sword, isn't it? I can't make up my mind whether I want that one next, or the one below mine.

www.jin-shi.com/index.htmThe site doesn't look like much admittedly, but it's still worth a look. And you can always email Garrett with any questions you have.

It's not too bad, the only thing I'd reccomend garret do is get some larger pics of the special order daos/jians and maybe some pictures of customization options like the differentially hardened/folded steel blades, etching, ect. Maybe I'm nitpicky because I personally want to see some pictures of them

Is this similar type of Jian used in the movie " Emperor and assassin " ? awsome looking jian (only if I know how to use it )

Is this similar type of Jian used in the movie " Emperor and assassin " ? awsome looking jian (only if I know how to use it ) Not quite. the weapons in that movie were based on the bronze ones used during the Qin Dynasty, while mine is based on the steel ones used during the Han Dynasty. Though even my sword isn't exactly like a Jian from that time, since the blade geometry is different.
