I am waiting on mine. Bought it from AOV but it went to Brian at DBK for the scabbard treatment. I am really looking forward to receiving it!

It's too bad they had to stamp the number on the hilt. Is a good looking sword.

Not my cup of tea, but I dislike the color gold. I would much prefer to see it in a silver. I would imagine something much greater when I think of the mythical sword "Excalibur". For me this sword falls short in the looks department.

For me this sword falls short in the looks department. I agree with you for the most part... my personal taste runs to silver black and platinum colors, not brass or gold. However this sword was made to look like a specific version of excalibur, the one from the 1981 moive directed by John Boorman. If you look at the sword used in the movie, the Gen2 version is VERY close in apperance. I LOVE that movie... therefor I love this sword.

Isn't that a blatant copy of the discerner sword from Albion? I like how they got the amount of notches on the pommel WRONG, the dimensions of everything all together sucks also, where the handle meets the pommel and steps down like that.
Damn nice pictures though, could you post a shot of your photo setup MJC?

I personally think this sword is absolutely beautiful. I would prefer it in one handed version for sword and shield combat, but other than that I can't think of a more impressive sword to own (for the price).
It is copied from the one in the film and not the Albion.

Actually the Albion is a copy of the Discerner sword of which this one also greatly resembles!

Having now seen the Albion Discerner... I very much prefer the looks of the Excalibur above.
I really don't like how Albion did that sort of flare right there above the crossguard. It looks ...Off somehow...

Thats probably the only reason I didn't pick one of these up... I really wanted it to be a single handed sword I could use with a shield.

I weighed the sword, came in at 5lb 4.5 oz, so not a lighweight, but was just swinging it a bit alongside my DSA Anduril (5lb 1oz) and it balances a bit better than the Anduril, less blade heavy. I am undecided on if I would have liked a 1 handed version better. Honestly, this is probably gonna be a wall hanger, I don't see myself beating this sword up or mistreating it, I just like the movie tie in and think it is beautiful and different from any other sword I currently have so I got it, working on making a mounting plaque and will hanging it on my wall.
My photo set up looks very similar to the one diagramed in a thread about taking sword photos. Two softboxes, one on each side, the sword either on a removable leaf from my mahogony dining table or on a mirror. A black paper backdrop. Camera was a Canon 5d. With a bit more time and space the lighting could have been improved on a few shots, but overall this was a quick set up and the photos look pretty good to me. Just hope the wife does not notice I put a sword on the mahogony leaf...that could cause a conversation.
Matt

Mjc did an excellent job with his pics so not really much for me to add........looks just like his with different numbers. I'll leave the review to you Leoghan as I'm sure you will be pleased and this blade will inspire your review. I also don't imagine that I will do any cutting with this sword.....just to look at and take it's place in my collection.

Nice, but I wish they would have flared the shoulders like on Discerner or the movie prop.
