The pommel is a screw off deal. Apparently they recommend heating them to disassemble (?) Then you could take the grip off safely. It'd be interesting for you to see the guard slot and why it is so offcentre. Seems to be par for the course for a DSA. You could file the slot out wider on the appropriate side. The guard would seem too loose, but when clamped up ahain it should sit firmly in place. I think you'll find it files out like butter.

The only problem is see if I would need to unwrap a part of the custom wrap and I dont want to screw it up to the point of not being able to put it back on.

If you unscrew the pommel and carefully pull off the handle, you shouldn't have any trouble getting the handle off without really disturbing the covering.

I think Vtolds' issue is that part of the grip leather covers the pommel, and removing the pommel would disturb/potentially ruin that part of the grip.

^true, the bottom black piece appears to wrap past where it unscrews. If you guys think it could be pulled apart or unwrapped and rewrapped with the same wrap I would be up for it. it might be a a question for Brian of DBK since he did the wrap. Difference

Indeed. I say cut it off and re-do it yourself after you fix the guard. Would be a great learning experience.

I would ultimately hope to just unwrap the bottom piece and use the same wrap to do it again, but maybe that is hoping to much.

I think you must ask yourself, is a slight off-set with the guard worth ruining your wrap? Personally I would probably leave it.

If you ever do get it apart...try flipping the guard around and checking the fit. Often the blades aren't centered from the factory (meaning every blade), and the guards are made from a blade blank...so if you put it on 'backwards' it'll be crooked.
Another thing is the slotting in the guard may be ok...but the shoulders on the blade are different. A few seconds with an angle grinder should fix that issue...again, once it's apart.
Hope that helps, and good luck =).

I ordered 3 yards of Tan Suede on Ebay, just to see if I can pull off a full cover job on the scabbard. It was Cheap enough that it wont matter how it comes out.
