over the years my wife & son have enjoyed my obsession and hobby. Always joining in on the cutting parties and demos. Got the wife outside for a bit yesterday for some fresh air and sun-light. She is a type 1 Diabetic (insulin dependent - wears a insuln pump) so exercise is good. Her weapon (s) of choice are the Masahiro katana & Hanwie Dark Sentinel that belong to my son, though she lays claim to half the Masahiro. She's a Brit and I can't get her to embrace the Euro swords of my collection...oh well...to each their own. She's had a little training from a fellow sword guilde member in kenjitsu but doesn't practice much. here is a couple of clips......Debbies video inspired me to coax her (wife Jeanie) onto a video.... and one of your truly playing a wee bit... cheers, Bill

In time he will surpass his old man!! EDIT: Thats some nice focusyour lady has there, but I laughed when she'd close her eyes just before impact... I had no idea the dark sentinel was that big...

Nice cutting Jeanie! Thanks for posting, it is nice to have some company It is great that you can enjoy your swords together. Welcome to SBG ;D +1 Marc, It is a truly wonderful yet thoroughly humbling day when your offspring surpasses you - I am remembering a day (not too long ago) I was sent into the wall with a particularly well timed and placed backkick. Afterall, it is what every parent wishes for, right?

Nice cutting. Good for you, Bill, having the wife join in, a karma to you for her. My own wife has no interest in playing with my sharpies or being anywhere near me when I am. LOL
BTW My wife was an insulin Dependant type 1 until three years ago. She wore a pump the last ten years. Worked real well for her compared to before she got it.

Thanks for the nice comments & karma Marc, Deb and Ric. Yea...keep tellin' her to keep eye's on the target at all times and to step into and draw the cut. Her real passion / hobby is Tudor / Elizabeth history and period clothing. She is one heck of a seamstress (different kind of pointy things). Since she has gotten the pump it's definitly been better (beats 4-5 shots a day). She got diagnosed about a year & a half ago when we came back from an England trip to visit her relatives in Cambridge and me doing mortuary hilt sword / Oliver Cromwell research.
cheers,
Bill

Excellent cutting in those videos Bill and Jeanie. It helps when the spouse can participate. My Wife has cut some but still thinks My Son and I are nuts. But she tolerates us practicing outside where everyone can see us when the weather is warm.

Hey guys! Well, this is interesting; I happen to be a Type 1 Diabetic myself! lol, I got it when I was 7 and I'm 14, btw. Not to mention, I ALSO happen to be a black belt in American Kenpo! Seems like we guys have a lot in common, eh? Tell your wife 'hi' for me, Bill, we diabetic types like to stick together . Marc- who does your son train under??? As in, what is his Sensei's name???

You know what Slayer....
I'm kind of a weirdo, and don't like to discuss intimate details about my family on the web... in 5 years on forums . thats the first time I've mentioned my son... and in hindsight I shouldn't have...
So my fault, bbut lets just let it pass... OK?

Well, here's another one; I'm type one as well. Diagnosed at 8, presently 17. I personally don't like the pump. By all rights I should be dead but in the half-lifetime I've been diabetic I've never had one ill side effect outside of uncontrollable vomiting and one seizure. Ah, good times.
