PAUL, PLEASE STICKY THIS POST? Hey everyone, Our benefactor is a modest man and won't mention this on the forum, but there is now a way to help support Sword Buyers Guide and the SBG Forum. Go to the About Us page on Sword Buyers Guide, scroll down to the FUNDING section. On the right you will see an obscure little CONTRIBUTE TO SBG box with a Make a Donation button. Click the button to go to PayPal. I know a few behind the scenes "goings on" and it's my opinion that we should all get behind Paul on this and make small donations when possible. Running the SGB sites is sucking the cash out of his pocket, and I for one don't wanna see any risk of loosing this enjoyable and entertaining site. I am making a donation right now. I would invite others of you to do the same if and when you can. Thanks, ShooterMike P.S. Donations for something like this never have to be huge. I go to Starbucks every morning on the way to work. I figure I could easily get a Grande instead of a Venti sized coffee, and drop the change in the SBG bucket instead of the tip jar for an over-priced coffee house.

When I am financially able to - I will definitely donate! Here's a nice idea though: Make a 'donation bar' that actually shows you what is the "donation target" for the month, and how much more donations do you need to reach that 'target', that would be cool and motivate people.....
Just a thought though..

good call starting this thread shootermike! i would never have known about donating to SBG otherwise! Paul definately deserves all the help we can give him in running this site. I only found SBG a little over a month ago, and it has already given me so much information and enjoyment that i know i want it to be around for a long time to come. Thanks for all your hard work Paul! and thanks to everyone else who's time and energy make SBG and this forum such a great place!

if only I could not that it counts for much, but I certainly support what Paul is doing along with the countless other people that this site has helped. Just so you know that your efforts are not in vain. Not much, but it is the least I can do to help by prviding assurance that we all care.

Matter of fact, why can't ya ramm?Financial problems like mine? [hehe, after buying my brand new sword for 700NIS (New israeli shekels, when the pay per hour here is like... 20NIS - you figure out how much time it took me to collect it) that is due to arrive in 9 days - im sort of broke, LOL] or something else? Obviously you don't have to [and should not] describe why not, if you can't or do not feel you should... -W.H.

look at my profile, more specifically age notice anything peculiar ;D? don't really have a means to pay for donations. I'd certainly be more than happy to....providing I could. If sbg is still around in a few years (and why the hell shouldn't it be ;D ), it will certainly get its fair share of my donations

LOL!!! I Always thought you're like AGES older than me, YAYS I R NOT THE YOUNGEST n00bie here i'm 18. though I do not tend to disclose any details about my 'true' identity, as i've had my share of legal problems that proved to me that as long as you do not have to - you should not disclose anything that can relate your forum aliases to your true identity. :x thats just me though XD. -W.H.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm pretty cautious in general. However, in order to do the review that I've submitted and the contest I won, there's quite a bit of me around the net ;D. Not anything substantial though. I'm not sure if thats a compliment or not, though I'm taking it as one regardless

First off - a very BIG thank you to all of you guys who donated. I really can't thank you enough for helping support SBG in this way. [glow=red,2,300]MUCHOS GRAZIAS AMIGOS![/glow]The funds will be going towards buying some more test cutting targets and some safety gear for some upcoming tests to destruction. BIG THANKS also to Shootermike for making this thread in the first place - I'm not entirely comfortable asking visitors for money, even though it would help to grow SBG into the future. And to those of you who cannot donate any money, just by visiting the site and contributing to the forums, you are helping to make this website what I have envisioned from the beginning... This especially applies to you Rammstein, as I know you are a young fellow with limited means - but hey - after being here from the beginning and counting up nearly 1,000 posts - you have more than contributed your share at SBG. Not to mention your sword designs. (Speaking of which, when are you going to put some designs in the Sword Designs section Shootermike made for you when he was a moderator? lol. You and Adam were really coming up with some cool designs in rapid fire fashion, yet when the Designs Section was created, it all dried up..! ;D) Anyway, thanks again to you all - to say I am truly appreciative is an understatement. This forum really makes me very, very proud and is the living, beating heart of SBG! - Paul

I've dug deep into my line of credit and fired off a small contribution to assist Paul in keeping this thing alive and going. It is vital that this board continue to exist and give myself and others a place to spout off about our addiction to the sharp and shiny's, a warm, comfortable place where the newbies may be assimilated in comfort and convenience. A place where people like myself may babble endlessly and drift from topic to topic in a single post and take three paragraphs to say; "paypal sent." Without this board I'd never have learned about many of the new manufacturers that produce many quality swords, or the ones who produce tin ware that is barely suitable for hanging on a wall. Here's to Paul, and all you other crazies who help keep me sane!

I copied this post from where I posted it in the Manufacturer's section. I was just going to leave it there but considered since Paul was going to post this special on the Website I would copy it here as well. Since it has to do with donating to SBG.
"I just got through corresponding with Paul about this and he is going to put a post on the SBG website.
For one thing I really thank Paul for the the sword test he has done, the site promoting teaching people about affordable price swords and I know his favorite being Gen 2, the wonderful forum for all of us to share about our favorite swords. And I for one know that not everyone's favorite is always Gen 2.
But seriously, this cost him time and money, and he is a business man, and has struggles and all of us manufacturers and retailers are hurting because of the economy, folks it is hard times.
So, what I am proposing, with Paul's blessing is this. We have several Numbered Dordogne Swords that have Certificates hand signed by Hank Reinhardt (not copied, but individually hand signed) that we need to move.
The price for these swords are $319.00, but business being what business is, I asked Paul, could we post that every one of these swords that are ordered by SBG fourmites, and this a SBG Exclusive, that everyone who wants one and to help out SBG, we will sell them at $259.00 and then donate $30.00 to the SBG to help with cost and time. It would be a big help to Paul and keep this wonderful family atmosphere going. This is a forum that is needed and will be needed for future first time sword buyers. Yes it would help us as well.
I and I hope I speak for Paul as well, you will make use of this opportunity, it will not happen often, not at this price, I assure you.
When you do place the order and remember to click on the numbered and signed version, Item # IP701S-2, it will show up at the $319.00 (BUT, in the comments enter SBG Donation Special), it will just do an authorization, we will run it through at $259.00, then once it is shipped, we will donate the $30.00 to SBG.
Then please post that you made your purchase and let's see how many are saying hey Thanks Paul and Clyde (You can leave my name out by all means, but say Thanks to Paul).
Sincerely,"
