Again I suggest a SBG pig pickin' / cutting a carcass party. I think we can all pitch in, buy a few pigs and have a good time!!!

I'd love to do an SBG pig picking but I'm afraid I would be unable to attend unless things work out JUUUUUST right. this summer is going to be very busy for me. I'm moving. but if we can set something up April/May MAAAAYBE I could swing it. I'd certainly try very hard.

Hmmmm, I wonder how many others we could get to come? Winwingiti has the woodstock thing up in canada, but its to far for me to drive/fly. Maybe we could do it up the southern way. This sounds like another thread. Hey bishop, where do live?

I know there's a good number of us in the NC, SC, GA, FL corner of the country, I think it could be very doable. I just have SOOOOOO much going on this summer.

I'd drive down to NC for an SBG pig sticking! I'd offer to bring my own pigs but I think it'd be best to just get them down there. lol

I'd even donate my penny collection towards the pig purchase, lol. I mean, you'd be like $3 closer! ;D

So is an SBG USA Pig Sticking (I'm adding USA since I'm not entirely sure international members will fly to this thing) all talk or will we actually get something put together? I for one would love to do something like that with members of this community. Besides - it'll give me an excuse to divert some funds toward a higher end katana.
Anyway maybe we could get some sponsors etc like wiwingti did regarding his woodstock in Canada.

Well, its an idea anyway. I think it would take awile to put together though. We made a form for gel torso but its not working. The damn thing keeps cracking and leaking when we test it with water. Hopefully we'll get it fixed.

How much money does it take to make a dummy out of ballistics gel?

Well 1 box contains 4 packs and costs around $1.50. 4 packs is enough to do approx. 3/4 -1 quart. There are 4 quarts per gallon, so the cost to make 1 gallon is about $6.00 plus tax. In the last torso we did to use for shooting, we ended up using almost 6 gallons. So that would cost $36.00 plus tax. However if you have a membership to a sams club or a B.J.'s you can buy in bulk and save alot. Its also very time consuming to mix and finding a fridge big enough to accomodate the mold can be a pain.

That certainly beats this: Kit for $264.99 - but includes the oven for melting the gelatin, and it's probably special gel calibrated for firearms testing. You may be able to re-melt it, too.

I've seen this thing, I don't think its worth it. Thats just a cheap thing that someones trying to cash in on. You're supposed to be able to reuse the gel, but apparently the gel breaks down very quickly so you can only reuse it maybe twice. Having said that I've been told by 1 person that a friend of a friend had one and it worked great. Of course this guy was at a gun show and he was trying to sell these, so me personally I passed on these. But if you do take the plunge and get one let me know what you think.

I don't plan to. I have box of tatami mats to go through, and when I find a good price on a pig - or just the leg - I'll get one.

It's hard to get a fresh peice for cutting unless you can either go directly to the source or have it picked up. Don't get me wrong, you can always get the test subjects, its just cheaper if you have a connection. Luckily my family owns a small meathouse so there is always something literally lying around.
