I made a couple of batches of ballistics gel for my review of the Cikara. I thought I'd post them here too. ;D Ballistics gel, if you dont know, is what law enforcement and the military use to fire different types of ammo into in order to test its capabilities on flesh. Basicly the same consistancy and resistance.
This was supposed to have a hand shape, but the mold failed.

Cool, usually you just see some random dude with a high pitched voice going away at a body shaped piece of this stuff like a crazed tiger on speed.

I've always entertained the idea of cutting ballistic gel. I just hadn't been able to find a good recipe for it yet.

I got the recipe from a friend of mine who is a big firearm shooter. Its actually a pretty simple recipe to follow. 4 pks knox gelatin per 1 cup warm water. Mix slow so that it doesn't clot up. If you get to many air bubbles it won't set up properly. Put the gel in the fridge for a couple of hours, till it sets up. Bring it out and remelt it, either on the stovetop over very low heat, or put the container in very hot water. after its liquid again, the remaining air bubbles will filter out. If you get too many bubbles while mixing, sprinkle liquid cinamin extract on top, it kills the bubbles. Normally about a half a teaspoon will do it.

Absilits, what sort of resistance did you feel when cutting that stuff? did it sem easier than tatami? water bottles? how does it feel? how do you rate it as a cutting medium? inquiring minds want to know!

Cool, doesn't sound as hard to make as I would have imagined!
EDIT in fact, I think it would be cool to see a video of how to make it!

The resistance is very comparable to the real thing. Human flesh is soft and pliable. Its not like water bottles or tatami. The resistance you feel with tatami is always in layers. With bottles you feel resistance then the water, and then resistance again. With the gel, you get an idea of actual flesh. It's hard to describe what it feels like to cut.

OK, OK. I'll let bishop decide.(no pressure.) Bishop, I only have time to do one. (no joke, I really don't) Crap, thats too cruel, I can do this one indoors, so... I'll try to get my friend the teacher over here and get started. Bare with me, it'll take a coupla days. Week at the most. Bishop, as far the axe sharpening vid, I'm doing my best. ;D

Thank you Absilits, I'd just like to say that the greatest joy a man can know is to conquer his enemies and drive them before him, to ride his horses and take away his possesions, to rape his women and to see the eyes of those who were dear to him bedewed with tears.
any questions?
(this is an actual known quote)
