I have a few Cheness myself and while I didn't mess with my Kaze, I did feel the need to 'adjust' my Tenchi, which is made from the same steel. Personally, I feel it is an improvement. However, like some others said, it's up to you, it's your blade. I also did notice that the amount of 'niku' on the Cheness blades can be decieving. May not feel all that keen to the thumb but I can gaurantee you it will bite you.

Hey, resurrecting a good thread is no crime...I could see if he resurrected some whine-fest or something...but that was a very cool way to slay him on it.

Great picture, Shootermike I was wondering, you said that you stop using the crocksticks just before reaching shaving, is that because you acheive the shaving on your final use of the 600 grit sandpaper? On the subject of sharpness, I always sharpen my blades to shaving sharp, including my Cheness. It helps me keep up with other swordsmen that have better cutting techniques than me A constant complaint of mine is that I have to sharpen every sword I buy The only swords I bought that came shaving sharp were 1: UC Katana, 2: UC O-Katana or Odachi 3:Functional Last Samurai Katana I got from KASwords

monger, no kidding a UC sword came that sharp? I've heard less than complimentary things about them, how is the quality of the rest of the sword?

Tom, so far I am happy with them except for the blade being skinny, with just the slightest amount of flex. The wrap on the handle is non-traditional, with about an inch of tang with what appears to be micarta scales sticking out beyond the wrap, so it actually has a pommel, one that you could actually use in battle I haven't got to "air them out" and do any cutting yet, as it is summer in Oklahoma, and like an oven outside Sweat (salt water) is really bad for swords I also want to run them through my sharpening shop, a little touch-up to the edges to make them consistently shaving over the entire cutting edge. The thin blade does make then lighter than Katanas of that length normally would be, so that will help them cut even better as I can move them really fast! Even the 54" sword feels light and fast ;D Budk has them on sale right now too Cheers, Mike.
