I'm going to use some simplifications here to calculate this, so I'll list them here:
1 oz = 30 ml
Average daily intake = 2.7 L (or 90 oz).
Pop (ie soda) sugar content: about 10% mass/volume, or 100 grams per 1 L. So this means you consume 270 grams of sugar (over half a pound) from soda. This is over half a pound.
I'm also going to assume you consume a "normal" amount of food and that this amount is just enough for your caloric (or food energy) needs, ie about 2000 Calories (or kcal) per day.
270 grams of sugar is worth about 1080 extra, unneeded kcal, that get transferred in fat. Fat contains 9 kcal per gram, resulting in 120 grams of fat created each day, or roughly a quarter pound.
In one year, this would amount to about 96 pounds...
So yeah, switch to water, and take a few black coffees if you need the caffeine...

I like diet coke, got hooked on it by accident. Also the cans are really fun to cut.
