Hey,
So, one of my swords has started to get a little loose in the saya. Is there something that I can do to the koiguchi or the habaki to make it tighter.
Thanks

Glue thin wood shims to the sides of the koigughi with wood glue and put the sword back into the saya as far as you can get it to put the shims under pressure. Leave it to dry overnight, then file out the exess wood. Takes me about five to ten minutes to fix a saya this way.

I've fixed one of my sayas by putting in a small amount of wood putty in on both sides. Once it dries you fold a piece of sandpaper and insert it to rub it down. You stick the sword in, and if it's too tight you sand it down some more. Works like a charm.

best thing I've found is iron-on wood veneer for cabinet edging found at any home store like Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.
Comes in 1" strips pre-applied with hot glue, so basically you cut a small piece, heat the glue side up with a candle or a lighter and stick it to the interior of the koiguchi (assuming you cleaned the area well already). When the glue has set, file to a nice fit.

If you glue wood-shims, DO NOT USE Titebond woodglue.
It causes rust.
Stick to Elmer's. Glue in THIN pieces of wood, then lightly file them until you get a perfect fit.
