I have an Albion sword with the “campaign brown” color grip. It’s kinda orangey, I would like to darken it a bit to brown. Would I use leather dye? Is there a finish that needs to be stripped first?

Hello, I recently purchased a Valiant Armory Viking sword from a forum member here. I disliked the color of the grip and belt.
I used Fiebing's Leather Deglazer on both parts. Then I used Fiebing's Pro Dye Dark Brown leather dye. Followed by Fiebing's Resolene Finish. It seemed to work for me.

I concur with Greg. And well done Greg, this looks like great work on the grip. I was thinking of doing it but I'm not sure it would work as well for Dark brown to Green. I might test it on a piece of scrap.

Maybe if you find a thin enough leather in the color you want you could just rewrap it over what you have? Just a thought, might be a lot less difficult and more sure to come out the way you want.
