I had not seen one of those bayonets before. Looked them up and this one looks like someone in the past ground off the saw back serrated edge. Very interesting and cool looking bajonett/bayonet.

This is true indeed.
Some time in the 20th century an international agreement was signed by many nations in which they declared not to use certain weapons in war.
Upon these were weapons which produced unnecessary suffering...bajonetts with 3 or 4 edges and sawbacks were amongst those.
This is why many 98/05 bajonetts had their sawbacks removed in order to keep them legal.
