Hello:
What sort of testing do you guys put your blades through?
Ive been doing a brass rod test, dropping point first into concrete, Batoning through scrap wood, cutting rope, wood and cardboard.
Ive been taking at least one blade a batch to destruction, using a vice.
What are some other tests I could use?

Cut HEAVY cardboard. Other than that, great testing methods. Only other test I would say is something that involved fine cutting geometries, try cutting a full soda can, free falling paper sheets.

Thanks for the reply.
Cutting empty popcans is my personal "ultimate" test for a longer blade. It doesnt really prove anything but good geometry, but it feels really really cool.

One thing not many test for, that I was informed of by Kevin Cashen, is comfort of handle. Often you see these awesome effective fin looking blades attached to a handle that looks SO uncomfortable. Don't just do your tests to test the blade/edge/geometry/heat treat, test them for comfort by doing your tests over a long period of time, hours at a time.
