Hi, I'm looking to buy a cheap Universal Sword sabre reproduction. I'm torn between the UniS French F1 Dress Sabre and the Hungarian Cavalry Sabre www.kultofathena.com/product-category/best-sellers/. As I'll be buying in Europe, the F1 model is priced around €180, and the Hungarian one is €188. I have no intention of sharpening them or doing cutting tests; I just want them for display and a little bit of practice. However, I'm not sure which one is best. There's also a third sabre I'm considering, the Universal Sword French Officer Sabre www.kultofathena.com/brand/universal-swords/. It should be lighter and better for practice since it's not based on a cavalry sabre. However, I'm unsure about the all-leather scabbard.

if you are mostly interested in something to display, then pick the one you think looks the best

I like the room the French dress sabre has in the guard, it also looks like the "Hungarian" model guard comes down more to the hand, they both look fantastic for the price in terms of "Display and Play". The French has a curved blade and makes a nicer display IMHO, while if quality the leather grip on the Hungarian type ( vs. plastic on the French) would be better to grip IMO.
Both have tips, so one would still need to exercise caution.

Going from specs alone, both French will be more fun moving around (the F1 will feel lighter than the 1815 Officer), the Hungarian will be pretty heavy.
