Hello! Long time lurker, figured it was time to make an account now that I’m getting into sword modifications. Listed for sale is my second project blade, a custom conversion of a katana into a version of the “Heron Marked Blade” from the wheel of time.

Price: $550 includes shipping via priority mail to continental USA only. Also willing to entertain respectful offers - I spent a long time on this, but I’m also pretty motivated to sell this; as I want the funds for my next project that I’m planning hah
Payment: Venmo, will provide via message
Originally purchased this as the Sokojikara Soul Crane katana a few years ago, and I have done significant leather work to the finish, in an attempt to turn it into more of a high fantasy feel, as I said above, was shooting for the Heron Marked Blade from the Wheel of Time books (or shows). It has been a labor of love and frustration, but I think it looks pretty rad - pretty distinct from any katana or western weapon out there. If this was the food world they’d call it Japanese fusion 🧑🍳
The scabbard core is the original, made of bamboo, which I have since modified slightly and wrapped with supple leather, and has risers underneath.
The handle wrap is the same leather, glued, and was wrapped in cord to add texture to the leather . The seam is skived to alleviate hot spots.
Included is a belt and suspension system, also made by me.
I have over 15 hours invested in this piece, and would love for it to go to a fellow lover of fantasy. Funds from this will go towards my next project.
The blade is made from 1065 high carbon steel, but if you want to look up the specs of original sword, it is the Sokojikara Soul Crane Katana.
Specs:
• brand - Sokojikara Soul Crane Katana
• 1065 high carbon steel
• full tang
• clay tempered
• sharp
• 29” blade
Defects:
• There are a few small nicks/rolls in the blade from a few cutting mishaps, but they could be filed/honed back down.
• missing a small brass detail on the pommel (not sure what it’s called on a katana)
• not as snug of a fit into the scabbard as I would like. I’ve attempted to rectify that with a small sliver of extremely thin leather glued just inside the throat. Not positive if it is a long term solution but it does the trick for now.
As is the nature of handmade items, there are imperfections, obviously, as I learn and improve the craft. See photos.
I’m sure I’m missing something, but feel free to comment or message! Pretty new to this sword community thing, but I’m excited to be here!
