I am currently designing a XVIIIb sword (dimensions are closely copied from pictures of a produced sword). Currently I am trying to make the design fit at ~48” total length as that’s the longest bar stock I can get. I would like to ask for input on both dimensions (white/Orange papers) regarding geometric ratios and what not. currently the cross guard seems quite large at 25-25.5cm wide. Would this be historically correct? Furthermore I am designing a pear shaped pommel and am having troubles with dimensions. Please see the question marks in the diagram surrounding the pommel. Any and all input would be appreciated.

I wouldn't set the dimensions of the pommel beforehand, its general shape yes, but the exact dimesnions should depend on the balance of the whole when it's close to finished. If you set your mind on fixed dimenstions the balance might be off in the end.
