I got scammed out of $2600 by our government (the US customs office) because of this hobby and the seller who I was negotiating with has given me complete radio silence for over a month. Because of this I've become completely demoralized and fallen out of medieval arms and armor collecting, which is why I'm selling my sword. There's nothing wrong with it, I have sharpened and buffed out surface rust in the past, but that's nothing abnormal and is just me looking after it, and its incredibly sharp. The cost is $500, +$50 to ship. If you live around Wichita, KS, you can save the extra $50 to come and pick it up yourself if you want. Will accept a few different methods of payment (mail-in check, paypal, cashapp) or let me know if you have any others in mind.

Out of curiosity, how did Customs scam you out of $2600?

It's complicated, and it wasn't really direct, but the end result is the same. Truthfully I'm pretty pissed at the seller aswell for not responding or communicating much at all. Basically the packages would always get frozen in customs because the package came from Russia. Now, the seller isn't even from Russia, he's from Kyrgyzstan, but I guess because of how bad their postal system apparently is and due to Russification, the seller shipped the package through Russia, or it started in Kyrgyzstan but while going through Russia got labeled as Russian, I really have no idea. So due to import restrictions with Russia my packages were siezed. I have no idea if the packages were sent back to the seller or not and its pretty hard to communicate with him, and all I know is that the seller is supposed to refund me for the whole price, but only once he manages sell it again (which is hardly something I can rely on). Also to clarify, what I bought was harnischfechten/reenactor armor, so I not only lost the money but also about a year's worth of waiting and going back and forth about trying to get the armor made to certain specifications, and the sword was supposed to be part of that kit. As for the seller, many of the armor sets he sent out to different buyers also got seized, and all at once without warning, so he's also overwhelmed with a massive hit to his business and people complaining.
It just goes to show, that even if your seller looks reliable, has many people who can vouch for him for the quality of his goods, supplies photos any time you want of any detail, you can still have the absolute worst case scenario happen to you.

I have one of these. I can't vouch for Windlass consistency, but I would say the steel parts of my sword are in a higher league in terms of historical accuracy, finish and performance. From the factory, the edge is not really blunt, but rather unsharpened. It's a shame that the slippery leather (?) grip detracts from the appearance and handling, but this can be replaced. The scabbard is entry level but functional. Overall this is a great deal - put a good grip and scabbard on it and you'd think it was a higher end production piece.

Oh yea, since you mentioned it, I can make a decent sword grip myself. I wouldn't mind doing so for a bit extra to go with the sword. I'll send pictures of stuff I've done in the past later.
