;D OK, I have been looking, lurking, researching etc. for my first sword for about 6 months. I wanted one that was strong and funcional (of course!) but balanced and weighted properly *Historicaly* . I wanted a cutter and something to learn and practice historical fencing with. I finally decided that this was it! So last night christmass eve, I pulled the trigger. It is on its way from thecastlecourtdotcom, I know i should have gone to KoA but for some reason I thought they were out of stock eh, well when it comes, I'll have a whopping three days to inspect it instead of the 45 at KoA. thats what I get for late night ordering But I am just to excited about this! 7 to 14 days and you can bet no ones working Xmas day! Man, I feel like Ralphy waiting for his decoder ring! ...Maybe I can drive to AL and pick it up...

So I actually just put in an order for one of these on Kult Of Athena. And i have to say I'm really excited.
I've also been in contact with Mr. Tinker Pearce himself about some modifications to it, so hopefully all will be well, and i can post the results on here for all to see. Unless someone beat me to the punch, it will be the second custom Tinker/Hanwei longsword.
P.S. ShooterMike rules,
+1 Karma!

Sorry for bringing this thread up again but I think my question might get answered in here. Before starting to make a hilt for a tinker hanwei longsword replacement blade (long name ) I need to get some further information about the size and especially the weight of the original guard and pommel. I someone who owns such a sword could chime in I would greatly appreciate that. Thanks

Wow, I never saw those tatami cuts with the sharpened blade until today. HOLY SMOKES!!! That blade is one of the nicest production euro blades I've ever seen. Lovely.
A little caveat for clarities sake though; I said "BLADE." Not "sharpening" or "hilt furniture" or "leather work." Blade. Maybe I'm a sucker for aesthetics, but as lovely as that blade is and as well as it handles and cuts (when sharpened) the only thing that keeps me at a distance is the way that hilt looks. It really seems like an excellent sword, through and through, I just wish the rest of it were prettier to look at.
But yea, I hadn't seen those cuts until today, so I'm all impressed and such. ;P

It is a real beauty...I didn't watch the video at first but when I did, whoa boy. This one's all about the cut...gotta love it.

Not bad at all. Creative and unique but not unreasonable and weird.

Now THAT'S a good-looking longsword!! Well done!
That "hollow-ground G1" pommel (for lack of a better term) looks all kind of sweet. Nice grip, too. ;D
