Custom longsword/bastard/HNH. Albion XVIa blade, heat treated at the factory. Slightly shortened at the guard to 34.75". Blade is sharp. Hilted in Canada and beautifully so. Guard is friction fit and back peened, and pommel is key hole slotted and peened. Solid. Grip is leather over oak. Poplar core scabbard, tooled leather, very good quality work. Reads "in sterquiliniis invenietur" (if you know, you know; if you don't, google.) Definitely using the pics from the dude that sold it to me not long ago, other than the obligatory shot of my SBG handle and the hilt. I'm no photographer and the sword hasn't changed in the last few months since I got it. Blade is 34.75" Overall length is just short of 44.75" Grip is 19cm. Weight is 3.2 lbs. (feels lighter, great balance) Shipping in CONUS and Canada only. SOLD _ I love this sword. I bought it a few months ago. I already regret listing it. Why then am I selling it so soon? You know how you're out there on the lamb buying swords left and right with no responsibilities, and then you get the call from Johnny Custom that you're up next in the queue, and after weighing the pros and cons of selling your family on the black market you decide to take an inventory and cut losses... That's where I'm at here.

The scabbard alone is worth at least half that

In a build like this how does one verify it’s an Albion blade? I don’t see a makers mark. A lot of the value of this sword would rely on the origin of the blade for some collectors

This is one of them.

Okay. But hypothetical if this was sitting at an estate sale or garage sale how would someone know?

Okay. But hypothetical if this was sitting at an estate sale or garage sale how would someone know? Only way would be if you recognize the blade profile and such, there is no makers mark after all. But it's very distinctive looking. This one however is a couple inches shorter than how it comes stock from Albion.

I asked the same question from the guy that made it. Was wondering about a makers mark and the consensus was that there are none on bare blades. It’s a top shelf blade, and I suppose in the end we have to go by the blade itself. And whatever trustworthiness the creator and second hand seller merit from buying and selling in the sword world.

Did the other owner reprofile the tip? Curious why they made it shorter. Or maybe for handling reasons. Very cool though.

I apologize to dotrom if we're derailing your thread, but I'm betting Albion's bare blades don't come with the tip in the final form of the Next Generation model - it's probably ground to shape by hand. Here's one of their pictures of their XVI bare blade:

I built this one and I have a receipt from albion for the blade if anyone is interested. Any other questions I'd be happy to answer!
