Hi guys… Up for review is my finished to near finished Zweihander. It is a training sword that has been finished out to be a Family Great Sword. photos.app.goo.gl/aTaRWKjcVk1QbbKfAIt is with glad heart I honor the smith, crafts workers and artisans that have given their time, energy and passion to bringing this sword to the culmination that it is. This is a customized Zweihander from Ritter Steel, purchased through Kult of Athena. I am not sure if they are still available for purchase. This is an open thread. Please be as critical as you like, but refrain from ad hominem attacks and I will do the same. I have been thinking and training in Martial Arts since I was a little boy. I transitioned from the Old School (1500’s) Japanese to Old School German Martial Arts a few years ago. I also drilled with an American saber as well to help my footwork. Please feel free to ask questions. Thank you for your time.

With such a broad background in swordsmanship (both Eastern and Western), what attracted you to this make/model?
You put a lot of thought and time into customizing it, so I figure this model has a special meaning to merit the attention.

With that in mind, this Zweihander caught my eye, because at that price, (especially after I shaved off a lot of steel that was in the way), any one of you can purchase and then customize a “Flamberge” of your own. It’s not meant for sparring, but it is fully functional as a trainer. I removed all the excess metal on the sword and left only the cross guard. Makes it much more suitable for handling around the body as a training tool. Why hot rod it up? Cuz it deserves it. 😁 Thank you for noticing. Kris

I must add, that I didn’t write that response as well as I could have. My English gets wonky. The point being is that it is a good base model to customize off of that is available in my area.
Cheers,
Kris
