Thank you so much Pellius. I think you are 100% correct. I can rest now. Ha. To me it looks like someone painted the entire thing black at one point. Blade, basket, etc so any detailed markings are truly covered up, but after looking at your link there is a round cartouche on the blade and maybe even some remnants of some lettering on one side. I might end up breaking out the steel wool on this guy. I don’t think I can hurt the value at all and maybe I can bring some of the maker marks back out. Thank you again. That was my first post and the community came through in a huge way. Much appreciated.

The ‘67 Swissie is one of my favorite models of all time.
Though not particularly valuable as 19C sabers go, they have become quite a bit less common lately. Do you have the scabbard?
The photos aren’t super clear, but your saber looks to be in very serviceable condition. The original grips were black leather over wood, so not tremendously difficult to repair if you want. The blade looks like it’s in good condition, too. If the hilt is still firm to the blade (prolly is because.. Swiss), a good refurb may be well worthwhile.
Even as is, that’s a very cool sword.
If you like the big and serious look and feel of a true fighting cav saber, the ‘67 is right at the top of the heap, so consider yourself spoiled!

It is in solid shape, minus the leather wrap missing and the black paint. Lol And sadly no scabbard. I wish I had one for it though. It has a really nice weight and feel to it. I think I paid about $80 for it at the time and just couldn’t resist adding a saber to the old collection. Theres a slight wave in the blade for the last 8 inches or so, but only noticeable if looking down the spine. I’m pretty excited to know what it is now. Thanks again!

I did a little work on it. It is marked CEBR. Weyersburg along with a left facing crowned king stamp and a H stamp. On the opposite side there is a + stamp which I’m assuming is for Switzerland?

The + is for Switzerland. Are you sure it isn’t “GEBR”?
