Hey guys! Interesting sword I have here. I think it is a Spanish Short Sword circa early 1800s, maybe late 1700s (I'm really not sure) It has a beautiful clam shell guard and stag handle. The blade is marked on both sides (I will include photos in Google Drive link, they are too big to post on thread) Any information or a starting point is greatly appreciated! First marking on the blade appears to be "DS" or "DF" with a crown above the lettering. The second mark on the blade shows a seal or coat of arms of some sort and reads, "Honi • Soit • Qui" witha crown situated above the the seal or coat of arms. Ok, so I've done some more digging and now I'm a little lost... I've seen some similar swords now that have been labeled as "German or English Cuttoe Hunting Sword".

Yeah, it's a hunting knife/dagger. Unfortunately I don't know more than that they sometimes were made of shortened or broken saber blades. In German called Hirschfänger/deer catcher. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirschf%C3%A4ngerHere a picture from the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nürnberg:

I agree...looks like a German hunting sword to me. That deer horn handle is common on the German hunting swords. Cuttoe is often used interchangably with hunting sword.
