Now it looks like it has seen some use instead of a n unfortunate run-in with a bench grinder. I have such a blade around as well (not historical and not worth much), thank you for showing me that rescue is possible. How long were you grinding?

I am preparing tool to repair the scabbard. I spent about four or five days on the blade, and when I got home from work, I used a sharpening stone and sandpaper to polish it.
