I have finally added a gun to my collection that I have wanted for a long time, although it is the newly released version of this model, I am still very happy to have it in my collection, the Colt Python 6" barrel revolver in .357, I have wanted this gun for a long time but could not justify what people wanted to sell them for, well I guess me thinking all these years I would never own one of these was worth the wait.

Here is a 1965 S&W model 10-5 manufactured in 1965, and a S&W model 19-9.

Just looked it up, didn’t know they had started production again. Had an old one that had been refinished but sold it. Only revolver I ever wanted. Don’t know if you’ve shot a gen 1 but if you have how does this gen 2 compare?

Never have shot a Gen 1, but the Gen 2 from the reviews I've seen and my own handling, I haven't shot the Gen 2 yet, the double action trigger is the best I've ever felt, they did do some slight changes to the Gen 2 when they released it this time, they added some steel to the top strap I believe and changed the springs shape to also strengthen them.

Yeah I was reading on Wikipedia what changes were made. All of them sound like good changes. The change in spring is supposed to help with stacking. I never shot mine enough to experience that problem. But mine had been buffed so much in the refinishing process (it had serious pitting and still had some) it did have the timing problem in spades. The only thing I didn’t like about the Python was the cylinder release. It has to be pulled back and I prefer the push forward type like on the S&Ws. I did see that I wasn’t accurate at all with .357 but .38s were very accurate out of it. Figured I needed more practice with it. Once you’ve shot it let us know your impressions. Congrats on a nice acquisition.

I would love to get a newly made Python but to me it's deep blue or nothing...
