I've never seen one in just a foundation polish, do you have any more details about that? I like a polish job but if the kissaki and shinogi isnt well defined I wouldnt want to try to set the geometry. Im guessing thats the K120C steel that Bugei uses. Is it folded?

Thank you for your kind words. The geometry has already been set. I started in a repolish because some rusting and pitting had formed. Got the stains out, now it just needs a finish. It is Swedish powdered steel as far as I know. I don’t think it was folded.

I always wondered who made them, sounds like Hanwei did.

Thank you Kris I know Smith Sensei well from my days of study/competition in the JSA community, studying Toyama Ryu, Mugai Ryu and ZNBDR. I never competed against him directly as he was a rank or two above me when I was training but that sword cut a lot of grass. You can probably see it in use if you go back over some of our old Tai Kai videos on YouTube. I always wondered who made them, sounds like Hanwei did. Other members are more qualified to answer this fully, but from my knowledge and experience I’m pretty sure they are made in Japan, not China. The blades were forged in Thailand from Swedish powdered steel (not folded) to the order of and under the supervision of Hataya Sensei and his employees. They were mounted with their original fittings in Thailand. Many of us in the JSA community would then customize them to our individual taste. These were the workhorse "grass cutters" of the Tameshigiri competitions in the US for those who did not have a HC or other custom blade. Good luck with the sale.
