sorry, can't tell you much other than I feel the tsuka was rewrapped at some point. doesn't mean the sword isn't genuine since ito is often replaced, even multile times in the life of the sword but sometimes sellers artificially make things look older and cruddy to pass as antique. the fittings look like good quality but the samegawa is an odd color, though looks like higher than standard quality but this could just be how this piece aged. all I can say for sure is the maki wasn't done according to strict pro standards and skills.

Yes, it's authentic, but in poor shape. Hard for me to tell the age though, possibly Edo. The habaki is authentic and looks like shibuichi. The tsuba is authentic iron and the patina is in good shape. The menuki, could be gold, but they're probably plated. Authentic ray skin with an interestinh emperors node and lacquered correctly. Fuchi and kashira not the highest quality and not my taste, but probably authentic! Otherwise overall not the highest value piece. Still, if you want to retain the greatest possible value in it, better to leave it as it is. A proper polish in Japan will increase its value, but that will cost more than its worth. You attempting to polish it will likely cause it to lose its value.

Definitely authentic
What's the length of the blade? Looks to be approximately a 32" blade length according to your mat assuming those are 1" squares?
