So it's a dhatana? Or perhaps dhakizashi would be more appropriate, considering the size...
I recall reading some dha were traditionally differentially hardened, but this fellow uses strictly Japanese terms throughout and gives the impression of trying to katanafy a dha. A bit weird, considering, but whatever makes him happy.
The end result is quite attractive, either way.

Wouldn't have thought Reliks of all places would have the Banshee in their "Japanese" sword section... It's most certainly based on a dha which most certainly is not Japanese. Oh well. Intarwebs etc.

I have the banshee, it's a pretty nice sword design, but all my friends make fun of it because it has a button, even though most of them haven't seen it.
The dha is a very nice looking weapon to me. It's a very "macho" kind of weapon, with a nice thick spine.
