I love it!
That being said, I haven't seen or read it since HS which was a few decades ago. So besides the characters and a few events, I basically remember nothing which tbh is great as a viewer. My dad actually remembers both the tv series and book better than I do.
will be interesting if this creates more interest for JSA and MA (basically nothing can make the katana more popular than it is now unless people were to start carrying them as an EDC)
My dad mentioned that it would be great if we could ever go visit Osaka castle as he did when he was in Japan. Makes me think, that I should try to figure out how to do this in the next few years.

Good series so far. Only scene from the original Shogun TV series I remember was when the dude went pee pee on Chamberlains head, a scene they faithfully recreated in this new series.

I haven't been this engrossed in a show since the early seasons of Game of Thrones.
I listened to the audio book version a few years ago, like maybe a year before the so it's a little fresher in my mind but I've been recognizing the major story beats for the most part.
Also, loved every moment Rodrigues was on screen.

Just a couple of my own thoughts on this thoroughly enjoyable rendition ...
Hiroyuki Sanada has always impressed me with his presence and acting. He was truly sensational in " The Twilight Samurai " ...
Not really smitten with Cosmo Jarvis, however ...
B-)

Among recent series, IMHO, for production quality, there's only one to compare it to. One reviewer asked, "How do you say "'Winter is coming'" in Japanese?". I thought I'd help.

I'm currently rereading Clavell's Shogun. The novel, while flawed in some details, is awesome.
Somebody needs to write a masterful parody of this immense and convoluted brick of a book (I'd suggest Benjo as a title) similar to Bored of the Rings and Doon. I'd include a scene where a Dutch merchant exclaims, "The spice must flow!".

I'm gonna send to a writer buddy. He's demented enough to maybe do it for semprinis and giggles. and money.

I understand! Wakizashimasu!! I suppose that's your newly coined word for expressing " wakarimasu" with the edge of your wakazashi, neh?

Well, now it's over, and IMHO, it was excellent. Some of it was closer to the real history than Clavell's original novel.
