FS: Class Set of Rapiers, Daggers, Masks, Jackets, Gloves

I'm following! I'd like to purchase a few items to get my group started into HEMA, but can't afford the full armory:(

I actually had shut down before Covid hit.

It was a combination of factors, my core group was more heavily weighted towards folks in their 20's compared to most WMA/HEMA groups and this is a low population density region. A lot of our core people began to embark on later stages of life in terms of graduating college, having kids, moving away, more job stress etc. It generally then falls on the the head of the group to pour more energy in to step up recruitment to replace the attrition and keep the school healthy. However, around the same tine I got married and embarked on my own mega-project to DIY build a new shop, house, and homestead which very quickly ate up every hour of the day that it could for years and required that I significantly scale back both WinterTreeCrafts and my swordplay instruction. So, the time and energy required wasn't available.

Shortly thereafter, an old injury from Jujitsu and a decade of repetitive stress making armor also reared its head in the form of a bulged L5/S1 disc which began putting pressure on my sciatic nerve and was quickly getting severe along with the early signs of arthritis in the most abused joints. Moving my back in the wrong way started resulting in me collapsing every few months as my legs would shut off (and oh did it freaking hurt). Then it wasevery few weeks, and then multiple times weekly, including while working on roofs and ladders. When a sneeze came on I'd have to grab something because it was 50/50 whether I'd go down. A few trips up to Dartmouth and it was in no uncertain terms "change careers yesterday." Making 3,000+ gorgets was apparently my lifetime limit, So I sold WTC, hung up the swords and became a Physics/Astronomy/Engineering teacher to let things heal.

A few local folks have carried the torch for some of the classes at the local schools and a bunch who moved away linked up with other groups.

Covid hit my first year teaching. My timing was apparently excellent.

I'm mostly healed up now and left full-time teaching to do my own thing again. I'm keeping all of my cutting sword stuff, but Rapier is uniquely asymmetrical in a way that really beats up my blown disc and I am not willing to risk losing the ability to walk in my twighlight years by trying to start teaching it again. Besides, I presume the art has evolved past where my skills left off.

I scratch my teaching itch by teaching physics, astronomy, and general science communication these days. Its much less likely to cause injury, barring the occasional encounter with flat eathers, 5g looneys, or anti vaxxers/covid deniers!
