Basically I want a wall hanger that I can swing around and not worry about it snapping, but I never plan on hitting anything with. www.ebay.com/itm/163589722266I plan on doing a silver wire wrap like this, maybe with copper or brass embellishments: My question to you guys is, do you think the blade on the ebay sword is actually pattern welded, or just etched? I doubt I can trust the seller. Anyone here buy these pakistani swords? Also, thoughts on the tang? The hardware is exactly what I am looking for. The fuller looks nice and I may adjust the tip a bit, round the bevel and such, then re etch.

Probably the steel will look like that and I'm sure it will be real folded steel but who knows what kind. There's zero accountability about claims for that type of eBay sword and you would hope it has a decent tang but you can't tell by looking at it from the outside you know.
The other thing I really don't like about the off-brand stuff like this is they can put any picture they want there but who knows what you're getting.
It's especially bad with armor, full suit of Gothic plate for $400! Yeah right.
I can't say what you should do but I personally give these type of listings of pass and stick to brands with some reputation.

Usually these "Damascus Viking Swords" are usually much shorter...will be impressed if it actually is as long as they say. In this price point, you are either going to take a chance on something like this on Etsy or pick up the Deepeeka that appeals to you most and rework that, but it won't be pattern steel (etched or real).
