I am thinning out the collection. I accept Venmo, or can set up Zelle if you prefer.
H/T Bastard sword with Printed Armoury fittings - $250 shipped USA - SOLD
Photos: H/T bastard
I assembled this sword from individual components and made the grip myself. I keyed the guard and pommel with mild steel wedges and hammered them onto the blade and tang so they fit very tightly. I then sealed the pommel nut with red Loctite so it’s as solid as can be. The grip is made from poplar and black leather, finished with a temporary cord over-wrap for texture. I also re-profiled the tip to reinforce it. This took off about a quarter inch from the overall length and added a secondary bevel to the last inch or so. The rest of the blade has a nice single bevel. It has only been used for light cutting, and is in like-new condition. The scabbard was made by another member of this forum and purchased by me. It fits the sword very well with no rattle.
Measurements:
Overall length: 41.75”
Blade length: 32”
Blade width: 1.5”
Grip length: 6.25” (9” with pommel)
Guard width: 7.25”
POB: 5.5”
Weight: 2lb 8oz
Kingston Arms type XIV and GDFB buckler - $280 shipped USA
Photos: Kingston type XIV
I am selling these as a set. The only modification I made to the sword was to smooth out the secondary bevel on one of the edges. It now cuts slightly better on that edge. Other than that, I have kept the sword in excellent condition. The scabbard has a small scratch which you can see in the pictures.
The buckler was made by GDFB and was purchased from KOA. It is in excellent condition and has only been used for display. The leather on the buckler matches the grip color of the type XIV surprisingly well.
Measurements:
Overall length: 34.5”
Blade length: 28”
Blade width: 2.25”
Grip length: 4.25” (6” with pommel)
Guard width: 7”
POB: 5.25”
Weight: 2lb 2oz
Buckler: 12” diameter, 3lb 7oz weight
Windlass Sword of Roven project sword - $180 shipped USA
Photos: Sword of Roven
I bought this as a project piece, and just never got around to finishing it. Here’s what I have done so far from tip to pommel:
I re-profiled the tip to be more acute. I ground out some discoloration near the tip, so there are some scratch marks on the last 6” of the blade. I shortened the blade and lengthened the tang by cutting the blade shoulders 2 inches further up the ricasso. The proportions of the original piece looked off, and the whole sword felt a lot heavier than it truly was because of the poor grip to blade ratio. It now feels a lot more lively in the hand, and the stamped Windlass logo is now hidden behind the quillons. I cut the rounded nubs off the end of the quillons – they now have a squared off look (much nicer in my opinion). I removed the original grip and made my own from poplar. I have not wrapped it in leather but if you want me to finish the grip in the same style as the H/T sword above, I’d be happy to do that and tack on $50 to the price. I removed the ugly pommel nut that was sticking out the bottom of the pommel and filed a landing into the base of the pommel to receive a peen. I then cold peened the end of the tang down over the landing in the pommel, which pressure-fit the pommel onto the tang. I had to use mild steel wedges between the pommel and tang to achieve this pressure fit. It had previously just been held by pressure against the original wood grip. I did not sharpen the blade yet. It is totally blunt. There are a few surface scratches here and there on the blade and hilt furniture. These were a result of the work done, and can be buffed out.
Measurements:
Overall length: 47.5”
Blade length: 36”
Blade width: 1.75”
Grip length: 8” (11” with pommel)
Guard width: 9”
POB: 5.5”
Weight: 3lb 2oz
Scandinavian Greatsword from Kult of Athena: $250 PLUS SHIPPING or local pickup in the Denver area - SOLD
Photos: Scandinavian Greatsword
Kult of Athena stopped carrying this piece, but I bought it from them listed as “Scandinavian Greatsword.” Here’s a really good review from a fellow SBG member: sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/57165/scandinavian-greatsword-kult-athena
It is a classic type XVIIIe with a long blade and grip and a pronounced ricasso, making it a very handy greatsword. The point of balance is close to the guard, so point control is easy. The long blade and good edge geometry make this thing a supreme pumpkin slicer. I haven’t used it on tatami but the reviewer linked above sure did. The only blemish is a ding on the scabbard that must have happened during shipping (I received it from KOA like this). Other than that, the sword is in like-new condition and has only been used on pumpkins and water bottles.
Measurements:
Overall length: 62.75”
Blade length: 43.5” including ricasso (33” sharp)
Blade width: 2” (1.5” at ricasso)
Grip length: 16” (18.5” with pommel)
Guard width: 8.5”
POB: 1.5”
Weight: 6lb
