I myself want the chance to see some spectroscopy on historical scabbards and grips one day. I have a hunch they're originally a lot more colorful (like this) than we tend to see in media. Anyone got access to the swords at the MET, and a Raman spectroscopy setup I can borrow?

A big bold powerful type XII...just my style! Love the blue grip and the faceted bronze pommel. WELL DONE! Very similar dimensions to my custom XII;

Wow, that blade is a beefcake!
I'm really interested in that golden-tan color of the scabbard-- it really pops when contrasted with the blue!
