Good morning everyone, This is my first real post other than just random comments on threads I liked. I wanted to start by saying hello, and I've come to really love perusing the forum here. Also, I've been a Japanese sword enthusiast since the early 2000's and man has the market just gone through so many amazing changes with the quality of available reproduction katana. I mean Motohara for example just blows me away with their work. Not to mention Shadow dancer and Z-sey .... just wow. So anyway, to the point of my post, does anyone happen to know what the kanji on Motohara nakago says? I guess I could email them directly, but I assume they are busy, and I wouldn't want to take their time asking silly questions. I have three Motohara swords, a daisho and one LMC that I am really just in love with, but whenever I take the tsuka off i'm just so curious as to what the nakago says. Anyway, Thanks to anyone who can illuminate me on the subject.

It's not a silly question; just ask Jason.

I agree not a silly question. 元原 Motohara. In Japanese it means "from the field" or "origin in the field". In Chinese it's Yuan Yuan, and it means "original origin," among other meanings. Don't know what it means in Korean!

Awesome! Thank you for that. "From the field" ... very cool!
