Nice piece and review.
I think it could use some kind of background music though it might be difficult to find something that is Japanese themed and free.
I was gonna say the kissaki and boshi on this Jkoo looked pretty good for once though I couldn't make out the edge roll.
Didn't look like there was a hourglass shape to the tsuka as you requested but none on their website seem to be rikko/ryugo or haichi. Maybe someone has ordered it custom and I would have to sift through reviews.
Seems like a lot of typical Jkoo swords, there end up being some detriments. As you mentioned, thin same, the saya issues (at least it draws nice).

Nice piece and review. Thank you for taking the time to check it out and provide feedback!
I think it could use some kind of background music though it might be difficult to find something that is Japanese themed and free. The intro and outro music I was able to find in the editor but mist the other “japanese” options were either muzak or too modern. I will have to find something!
I think this is the frustrating part. Between my two swords (the first that was sent and the reviewed replacement sword) they have the skill set to do everything well (except maybe the saya) My first sword had a great tsuka-nice same, great even tight wrap, but the blade had issues. The replacement had a perfect blade but a lower attended to tsuka. Maybe thd trick is to just tell them to take more time, or more likely, it just is what it is. They CAN do it though.Hard to photograph the very small tip damage but here it is. Rikko was an option I selected but with how much smaller the kashira was compared to the fuchi and taking into consideration the thickness of the nakago, there was never ant way it was going to have the correct shape. I cant blame them for that though.
Seems like a lot of typical Jkoo swords, there end up being some detriments. As you mentioned, thin same, the saya issues (at least it draws nice). I would agree. There some things they do very well and others that are just “ok” I will say however that in this case, none of the “ok” things affect functionality in any way shape or form and are purely cosmetic or nitpicky so that being said, for the price, I think its a good option.

tbh, from the various reviews I've read of them, this seems pretty typical. The models on their website have always seemed interesting and it sounds like CS is better than some
but ffs, ya gotta hit the mark since their are other sellers to give money to

I don't disagree. will probably order once more from them and see if I can request the same smith that made my second sword. I would like to see what they can come up with. I am going to now work on the Custom Order experience video, and talk about how I may have set my expectations a bit too high and what I ended up receiving a.k.a a tale of three swords.
