Hi,
Thank you for letting me join. I have a family sword that I am trying to research (along side some other family/genealogy searching). I’ve looked through pictures and a few of the posts on this site and others and can’t find it. Can anyone provide any additional information or point me in the right direction? Notable features: Crest on the hilt with 2 lions and 2 castles The blade is Engraved “Ano d 1860” on one side and “D Toledo” on the other. The crest is also at the top of the blade along with some fancy filigree part way down the blade. The handle I believe was black with golden threads but it is degraded quite a bit. There is some wood showing underneath on one side The top tip of the hilt is domed with a leaf type pattern. I have seen some swords with the crest online but none with all the elements. Not sure if it’s helpful but family member immigrated to the US around 1872 from Spain or the Spanish Philippines. I don’t have a photo hosting service but can try to set one up in order to share pictures. Any guidance on the sword is welcome and appreciated.
