This is by far the most comprehensive look into the forging of a traditional blade in Japan. Extra bonus it is in English! I thank the smith for the opportunity to get a peek behind the curtain and I hope it will help people further appreciate the development of the katana and support for modern sword smiths in Japan. m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbVfT7I9KH5Hi4e5xVGMaT67YkbnZdkHB

Ooh, this looks good, thanks for posting. Maybe it will help me decide how to process my tamahagane!

Thanks for sharing this.
So many of these details are glossed over in other resources. These videos really highlight the scope of the work.
I have never been so fascinated watching someone cut charcoal 😉

Those are great videos!!! I did check out his web page as well, products and prices. Given the amount of labor and the materials used I think he is not asking too much. Ok...16k for the blade is out of my reach but I would have thought it to be even more. If I ever win the lottery... ;-)
cheers Uwe

Definitely an awesome series. So labor and skill intensive. Amazing.
