My amateur research has found a number of opinions on this Sword/Sabre. 1- French AN IX light cavalry Sabre, but blade not French. Blade Russian made in Zlatoust dated 1833. 2- Model 1837 Russian Cavalry Trouper's Sabre by Zlatoust, 1833, Crimean War Trophy 3- French An IX Cavalry saber, many were picked up in Russia during Napoleon's retreat, refitted as needed and issued as the Russian M1826 Any information that might clarify the swords identity would be appreciated. Does it look original or some kind of reproduction? Thank, Bill

Looks to be a simple 1827 Cav Sabre made in Russia entire. The poincons match another example I saw online. I don't know a ton about these, but it seems the trooper versions generally have that other brass button halfway down the length of the grip while the officers' ones dont.

Russian sabre, but be very careful with buying one of these. There are more fakes out there than originals.
