Decisions, decisions.
I`m trying to decide between the two.
I never owned a LK Chen before but I purchased two katana from Cloudhammer. sx105v arrived and I love it. S5 on the way, It`s a pleasure to talk to and do business with John.
There is some price difference but if price were the same which one would you pick and why?
1 lb 10.3 oz many reviews
Weight: 1000g/2.2lbs No reviews or cutting video.
or the 3rd bonus option which confuses me even more because their s5 is indestructible.
Weight: 980g
I never liked Euro swords that are whippy. Never owned a Jian before.

I only own dao by LKC, and nothing by cloudhammer. So I can’t offer any experience to your decision.
That cloudhammer damascus blade looks very nice as does the scabbard and finishing. No mention of distal taper, though, and it looks like it’s almost half a pound heavier and a little shorter than the LKC.
For display, I think I like the cloudhammer. For any kind of use, I’d likely go for the LKC.

I'd go for the LK Chen. It's one of their signature blades, and they have a lot of experience with them (they even have a picture of one of theirs beside an original Han Jian!). Check out their website: lkchensword.com/flying-phoenixI definitely wouldn't get one without a damascus type pattern, for me that's part of the appeal. If I wanted a beater, I'd get a different blade. As far as I understand, these were fairly thin, light, and flexible blades. That being said, with the diamond cross section it shouldn't flail around like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. If you want weighty and no flex at all, then you're probably looking for a Ming Jian. Those were apparently quite robust. For instance, I've been salivating over LK Chen's Grand Marshal Ming Jian. I'd get it with the sanmai and the authentic rounded tip: lkchensword.com/grand-marshalIt's not a lot heavier, but the geometry is different. Nothing wrong with the cloudhammer one though, 2 lbs isn't that heavy for a sword, and their damascus pattern is nice.

LK chen has superb customer support, you could tell them if you want something different, like a different wrap or tip geometry.
BTW don't believe the weight on their homepage, most is a bit heavier than they say, for example they say the Gale Wind is 1000ish grams, but both I have handled were over 1100g (1104g and 1120g). My best cutting one handed sword, though it also works 2-handed.
Skallagrim has bent a Flying Phoenix via botched cut on Tatami, but it is pretty robust for the fine blade it has. The 60Si2MnA version is probably even a bit tougher than that.
