How is the blade quality of Cold Steel katanas? I am looking for a factory-produced katana. Personally, I believe that katanas manufactured with modern technology in factories might be more durable than those handcrafted by artisans. This belief stemmed from learning about the history of Japanese military mass-producing katanas for their soldiers during World War II.
I would like to hear from those who have used Cold Steel katanas. How do you rate these swords? I am not concerned about the appearance, as I plan to have a blacksmith I know re-sharpen and redesign it if I purchase one.
My main interest is in the flexibility and durability of the blade.
Thank you for reading and responding to my query. Have a great day and stay safe in your training.

Cold Steel isn't a forge but a reseller of weapons made by different forges all over the world, China, India, South Africa, etc. They order specific alterations for their product lines. The katana and Chinese swords are made by Huanuo afaik, which also make swords for Dynasty Forge. I don't remember a Cold Steel katana failure recorded. My own kat has a good blade with less good fittings. Flexibility and durability depend on so many blade specs and luck with the actual sword that it's hard to give a general advice. I own many Cold Steel swords and knives, some better, some worse, but the problems aren't the blades.

yeah, ive never heard of cold steel katana failing.
general complaint is they are heavy probably overbuilt because many of the ppl buying them are gonna cut heavy sometimes stupid targets
another complaint is the fit and finish with the wraps coming undone.

If flex is of importance, maybe something in 9260 through-hardened to a spring temper. I don't know if Cold Steel sources any of these, but there are other options, most of which source out of Longquan, China.
