Hello and respect for all members. I need a little help for a weapon from my collection that I don't know what kind is: stiletto, misericordia or rapier. The size is 47 cm , 33 cm only the blade. He has the marks of Caino town but I don't know the mark of the swordsmith it is a crown with an M and C. I don't know if it is for sure Pietro Caino.

I would certainly consider it a stiletto, but Misericordia is a new word to me. Seems to translate to English as something like "mercy kill" so that's interesting.
Can't offer anything on the maker, but I will be interested in seeing what anyone else can tell us.

"Misericorde" is a name that was given to daggers like the rondell, with a blade that is made for penetrating. It was used to mercy kill wounded enemy knights, therefore the name. Like through the visor or the gaps in the armour. "Misericordia" is the name for it in other languages, german for example. Also the latin word for "mercy" but became linked to "mercy kill" over centuries in english through the dagger and its use.
So "Misericorde" is an umbrella term for all daggers of this type while "Stiletto" is more specific to the italian style with the typical cross shape.
