Hello everyone,
I was a member here over 10 years ago, long before I could spot the differences between nihonto and a Chinese machete. Since I was last here, my collection has only moved as far as the display wall to dry storage, only recently being uncovered and appreciated once again. Needless to say HEMA and kendo are distant memories, and the few clubs here within reasonable distance no longer play together on weekends. My wife suggested I sell my arms and armour to fund a small army of home renovators... but I'm too fond of them for whatever reason, mostly artistic I imagine.
My collection includes a small number of nihonto and customised production katana. Some of these were worked on by Josh of Cottontail Customs or by myself back when I had more time on my hands. The European end of the spectrum features Albion, A&A, Rob Miller, Tod's Workshop, and Christian Fletcher swords, with scabbards from both Tod and Brian Kunz of DBK. I'm hoping to expand on these with work from newer European craftsmen I've seen emerge here but more importantly; swing them around again, either in a re-enactment circle or cutting mats for fun.
I see SFI and MyArmoury are both much quieter than they used to be, which is a shame as they were staple haunts back in the day. Looking around but unable to login to my original account, I'm happy to see and remember several of the old guard still here. I'm also sorry to see that Adrian passed away.
Good to see you again.

Hi.
Yeah, SFI has been very silent and MyArmoury has not accepted new members for over 2 years. That's why I landed here. Most new users go to facebook or reddit. Seems only old people use forums now.

Welcome back
Your collection sounds very nice indeed. Good to hear it’s still intact.
I keep hoping Cottontail will open for commissions again..

Old? Dang. I guess you're right. Although, I do look at r/swords now and again. Most of the stuff on there is my friend/dad/brother/grandpa gave me this [wall-hanger SLO] sword, how much is it worth? The answer is usually tree-fiddy.

Seems you're right MrStabby, though I'm not on Facebook and barely use Reddit. For all its obvious merits and riding the apex of 35; I'm grateful to be just old enough to remember a world without the internet.
MA and SFI were more academic in their focus and SBG used to be the goofy step-child of the bunch. Ironic that it outlived both of these, even if all forum formats are now naturally much slower. There was a time you couldn't keep up with this place.
I'm sure pics of my retirement fund will trickle in as and when. I'm gonna haunt the member search and seek out a few folk I used to meet up with, maybe get something going after the holidays.
Cheers!
