Graceful curve to that blade...nice looking! How long is the blade, I'm guessing 28"? Only change I'd make if it was my order, would be white rayskin for the tsuka and a full wrap. But I suppose with white samegawa then the tsuka wrap would not contrast quite as much as brown on black as you have? Seems us guys can be as subjective in preferences and our ladies with their clothes. :-) R

Hah!Since I stuck with browns, (which my other swords are brown but with white same, brass habaki and seppa) I wanted this to contrast in some way. Ive never handled a katatemaki so i figured it would give that a go as well. They did do a full wrap (at least they said) but inspection and review will determine that.
about a 28" and 3/4 nagasa and a 12" inch tsuka. Should be a good beater/cutter $398 shipped. ($45 added on for specific "higher end" tsuba, fuchi and kashira.

I think you did very good at that price point. Might I ask how long from order to their sending completion pics ?

I agree! The blade was already produced. I had them build a new, longer tsuka with full wrap samegawa. In talking i was originally going to change the saya from what was on the web. It had a natural wood finish I didnt care for. The big sori blades don't fir the general pre-made sayas they had so that would have took longer. I ended up saying "just go ahead and keep the saya as is and I will refinish it myself. I was then quoted one week for the tsuka creation. It took almost exactly that amount of time and much to my suprise the refinished the saya for me which was a nice surprise! They stayed in constant communication throughout. The customer service experience was incredible and it wasn't like i was ordering one of their most expensive swords, so I really appreciated that level of care as well as concern in that they were executing my vision.

Interesting update...RyanSword is in Longquan...JKOO is in Longquan...now I don't know how large of an area it truly is, but the timeframe from when SF express received the shipment and departing for New York is significantly different. In my two JKOO shipments, they appeared to be moving all over China passing from station to station until its final staging area before its flight. They then waited at that location for a few days "queuing up for flight resources" Id assuming that means filling containers before loading them on a plane.
Now I dont know if RyanSword is closer to the final destination or they used a different service level (cost to me the consumer was the same) but the tracking ticket was printed on the 6th, and its literally on a plane on its way to New York today...that is pretty darn impressive.
I really hope the sword is as nice as it looks because this purchasing experience has been so fantastic, I'd really like to use it again...
