My previous thread about comedy movies proved to be quite popular and I thank everyone for participating.
What are your favourite movies and why?

Surprise: Conan the Barbarian 13th Warrior Blues Brothers The Little World of Don Camillo Die seltsame Geschichte des Brandner Kaspar
Edit: The reason for first three movies is relative clear I think, I like this stuff. The 4th and 5th follow me since my childhood and trigger and/or shape my religiosity, ok, the 3rd too. Crom!, all five.

Conan is indeed one of the best fantasy stories. It's not only fun and games, like many other fantasy movies.

I will agree with the original Arnold version of Conan being a favorite. John Milius did an outstanding job to translate the fantasy novel world into a film in an age without all of the digital effects used now.
Brazil - (the international or director's cut are the correct ones to watch, the original US theatrical version is good, but not as good. Skip at all costs the "Love Conquers All" TV edit) This is the best dystopian future movie I've seen. Stunning visuals (again pre-digital).
The Man Who Would Be King - outstanding story with a fantastic cast (Connery and Caine).

Apocalypse Now, because it smells like Victory.
Corvette Summer, I never get tired of watching a young Annie Potts.
Terminator 2 Judgement Day, because having a pet Terminator is just too cool.

Watched Star Wars, Superman, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Conan The Barbarian, Robo cop, Back To The Future, Aliens as they came out in the theater from pre-teen through teen years. Fantastic all in their own ways. Blade Runner came on HBO and onto my TV late in early 1980something and I never heard of it or expected anything. Much was put into set design because of a Hollywood strike shutdown and the atmospheric effects really stand out. The rooftop scene at the end...so moving.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.
