This question I know comes up periodically in the forum but with Mugen Dachi gone has anything stepped into its place as "the" next source? If the answer is "nothing" what have people been using lately? I can't imagine competition just went away so I'd think organizations have to be sourcing materials from somewhere....
Thanks in advance.

I haven't gotten to use them yet but www.aztatami.com. Aikido does a review and instructions on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_RkCqt30u4). Also on amazon, Ryujin sells mats though I have also not had a chance to try cutting them yet. www.amazon.com/RYUJIN-Heavy-Tameshigiri-Cutting-Omote/dp/B078YH59ZJ/ref=sr_1_4 crid=ZL5OGUG0A28J&keywords=tatami%2Bmat%2Broll%2Bcutting&qid=1700844363&sprefix=tatami%2Bmat%2Broll%2Bcutting%2Caps%2C113&sr=8-4&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.304cacc1-b508-45fb-a37f-a2c47c48c32f&th=1&psc=1

I reported on using reeds cut locally, and they are pretty good. Like bamboo, they can rust the blade, so wipe after each cut. They are also pretty tough to cut through, so I'd bundle at most about 10 together, 5 one way and 5 the other.

Kageyama Imports in Tucson AZ. Similar to Mugen Dachi in bulk uncut rolls. Better pricing than the usual small-quantity retail places. Or get used Japanese tatami omote from Nihonzashi. The Toyama Ryu schools in USA import containers full of used Japanese tatami omote for their students.
