I am starting a collection, and I have decided that I would like an example of a Germanic sword from each century. I currently have an Albion Crecy, which I suppose could pass for a 14th century sword, I have an Albion Earl on order to fill the 15th century slot. I am thinking a Kriegsmesser for the 16th century. Does anyone have input on great examples that are available out there to fill the other centuries? My current knowledge doesn't go much further than the centuries I have listed. Thanks.

Here's a site with the Oakeshott types and their timeline: myarmoury.com/feature_oakeshott2.htmlI'd go in principle with: 13th C: A big XIIIa warsword, Duke 12th C: A classic XII arming sword, Knight 11th C: A XI long bladed riding sword (St. Maurice type), Hospitaller 10th C: A classic X or Xa with longer cross guard, Reeve 9th C: A classic X with shorter cross guard, Frankish style, Stamfort 8th C: X with viking hilt, Hersir 7th C: X spatha with a sandwich hilt 6th C: X spatha with a simple wood hilt (but not Roman hilt) This site has good examples of migration era spathas: www.templ.net/english/weapons-antiquity_and_early_middle_age.php
