So, I just got a new torque wrench and was wondering, how tight should you get pommel nuts? Its a low torque value one for bicycles and motorcycles.
Just putting maximum effort in tightening the nut seems a bad idea, but are there any rules (of thumb)?

If it's like a Hanwei Tinker nut, 6x1mm then about 7 lb feet is the max maybe 8, 96 inch pounds. I think it's critical that the threads be clean and undamaged and maybe grease them a little or put some anti-seize on there or something to help it move smoothly. Not just on the threads but where the bottom of the nut pushes against the pommel too.

8 lb ft is an oversimplification, the hardness I mean the grade of the bolt and nut can make a big difference like almost double but I don't typically see those kind of specialty nuts in anything but medium soft, definitely not hardened.

Not too tight! I don't measure it but do it by feeling. The power you need for the last moving til it stops plus a bit more.

One of my big pet peeves is when people don't use a good fitting Allen key and it starts to round off the nut and then you can't get the right Allen key to fit anymore!
