i have a friend who learns wing chun, hes just got himself some butterfly swords.
i get to use them if i ask, but i couldnt figure out even basic technique with them. ie leave a bottle standing.
has anybody got any basic butterfly swords tips?

Um hate to break it to you but the butterfly knives/swords are not a cutting weapon. Originally they were designed by monks for defense against bandits, however monks are not allowed to kill . Secondly the blade is not the most integral part of the fighting art that is used with butterfly swords that I have experience with. A butterfly knife is basically an unsharpened blade with a set of brass knuckles attached. The two blades always work in tandam and most often they work circular patterns. There isn't much more I can say that is easy to understand in writing. The butterfly swords are not a beginners weapon and as such basic technique is quite difficult to learn.
